The beginnings

The Society was created in October 1982 at the suggestion of Mrs. Dida Wells to Mr. Robert Munro at the Embassy of Paraguay in London during a celebration of the Independence day in May 1982.

 

Mr. Munro called a meeting at his home where the following were present: Dida & Terry Wells, Robert & Rosemary Munro, Javier & Margarita Brun, Tony & Julia Vinhas, Stuart & Juanita Berthormier, Maria Diaz among others.

 

In this meeting the Anglo Paraguayan Society was created, being elected: Robert Munro (Chairman) Javier Brun (Vice President) Juanita Berthomeir (Secretary).

 

The first party of the Anglo Paraguayan Society was held in May 1983 in Richmond. Every year for the first 25 years there were one or two parties a year. Paraguayan music events, cultural events, art exhibitions and talks of interest to the members of the Society were also organised.

 

The income and property of the Society must be used to meet the objectives of the Society to be distributed to charities in Paraguay. The objective of the Society is to promote cultural and social events in order to bring together all those interested in what Paraguay represents.
